Kohima, May 12 (MExN): ‘Experiential Marketing’ the first such workshop and training on event planning and management in the State, was held at RCEMPA, Jotsoma on May 9, with Shaju I Ignatius, founder and Director – The Ignite Enterprise (Ignite Infotainment Pvt Ltd) as the resource person.
According to a DIPR report, one of the pioneers in event managements in India, Ignatius shared about the initial stages of event planning in the country and also how the ‘power of experience’ has given rise to Experiential Marketing. He stated that “event management is a creative combination of arts, science and commerce,” it is as professional and large as any of these fields and added that it is the art of ideation and creativity.
During the workshop, trainees were shown the importance of event management and preparation that goes into the successful conduct of global events such as the Olympic games, FIFA World cup, Oscars, IPL, Kumbhmela etc.
Ignatius said that event managers have to be crisis managers because when something goes against the plan, how the event manager handles it makes the differentiate between a good and bad event manager. He said, “Whatever you may do, human error and technology error can never be guaranteed” and added, “God is the biggest event manager.”
Project Director Music Task Force, Hovithal Sothu said that the training was organized so that events of music, tourism industry and also social events in the state could be more well managed and organized. The two day workshop on Experiential Marketing is organised by the Ministry of Youth Resources & Sports.
